Coach transfers and shore excursions from Dublin Port
Cruise ships in Dublin tie up inside a working port, east of the Tom Clarke Bridge and about 4 km from the city centre. A booked coach turns that short gap into a full day out.
Berthed among the freight
Dublin's cruise berths are inside the working port, alongside freight and ferry traffic, rather than in a stand-alone terminal. Give the operator the ship's name and arrival date, and let them confirm where on the quay the coach can stand. Check your itinerary carefully: some ships visiting Dublin anchor off Dún Laoghaire instead and send passengers ashore by tender.

Excursions that fit a port day
Powerscourt Estate at Enniskerry is about 35-45 minutes from the city, and Glendalough about an hour. Brú na Bóinne, for Newgrange and Knowth, is about 45-60 minutes; the monuments are reached only by shuttle bus from the visitor centre, and groups of 15-30 must pre-book a group time slot. On the run north, a coach seating over 25 uses the Dublin Port Tunnel without paying a toll.
Kilkenny, about 1.5 h each way, is possible on a long call but leaves little margin.
Seeing the city by coach
For a city tour, Merrion Square South has a drop-off and pick-up point for cruise ship shuttle buses. The Guinness Storehouse keeps parking on Market Street for coaches. Elsewhere, the quayside bus gates (Bachelors Walk, Aston Quay) and the College Green gate mean the coach will not always take the direct line.
Working back from all-aboard
Set the return by the ship's all-aboard time, not its sailing time. Leave room for city traffic on the last leg and a headcount before the coach moves. Cruise lines generally do not hold a ship for an independently booked excursion.
On turnaround days, Dublin Airport is about 10 km away, around 15-30 minutes. Cruise luggage is heavy, so size the vehicle for cases, not just seats.
