Minibus and coach operators may not park outside the terminal building at any time. They wait in one of the two dedicated coach and bus parking areas. Coach Park 2, at departures, is shared with on-hire minibuses and limousines.

Agree with the operator where the driver meets the group inside the terminal and how the group then gets to the vehicle. Tell passengers before they fly, so nobody goes looking for a coach at the door.

The first hour on the road

Limerick city is about 27 km away, about 25 minutes via the N18, and Ennis is about 22 km. Galway is about 94 km, roughly 1 h 10 min. Bunratty Castle and Folk Park sits off the N18 about 10 minutes from the airport, with free parking for visitors, which makes it an easy first stop for a group that has just landed.

Heading south towards Adare or Kerry, the route may use the Limerick Tunnel on the N18 Limerick Southern Ring Road, which is tolled. Ask whether tolls are in the quote.

Which tours start at Shannon

Shannon is the nearest airport for Limerick and Ennis, and a common arrival point for groups touring Clare, Galway and Kerry. From Limerick, the Cliffs of Moher are about 1.25 h, Adare about 25 minutes and Killarney about 1.75 h. The Cliffs of Moher require advance booking for every coach and every group of ten-plus.

Flying home to the United States

Passengers flying to the United States clear US immigration and customs at Shannon before departure. Set the drop-off time from the airline's advice for that preclearance, not from the ordinary check-in time.

Late flights and heavy bags

A delayed flight means the driver waits longer in the coach park, and every hour of waiting counts against the driver's working day. Send flight numbers so the operator can follow them. Long-haul arrivals usually mean a large case each, which is what a full-size coach's underfloor bays are for.
