Full-size coach hire
A full-size coach carries a large group and all its luggage in one vehicle, with one driver and one timetable. Its length is what the rest of the plan works around.
Seats, cases and trip types
Typical seating runs from 49 to 81, with about 80 on a double-decker. Two- and three-axle models are roughly 12 to 14 m long. Cases go in underfloor bays; a 13 m Tourismo holds about 12 m³. That makes a full coach the natural fit for airport arrivals and multi-day tours of Ireland, where every passenger has a suitcase, and for match days and festivals where one vehicle keeps the group together.

The paperwork behind the coach
The operator supplies the coach under a Road Passenger Transport Operator Licence, and the vehicle must pass an annual CVRT roadworthiness test. The driver holds a category D licence. A tachograph records driving and rest times, which Regulation (EC) 561/2006 governs. Passengers aged 3 or over wear seat belts where fitted.
Where a 12 to 14 m vehicle can't go
In Dublin, bus gates on Bachelors Walk and Aston Quay keep through traffic off the central quays from 07:00 to 19:00, and the College Green gate is in force at all hours. Passengers board at signed coach stops such as Nassau Street, and longer waits go to the NTA Docklands Coach Park. The Dublin Port Tunnel is toll-free for coaches seating more than 25.
Outside the capital, the East Avenue laybys in Killarney are for set-down only, and at the Cliffs of Moher coaches use a dedicated coach park entrance. Hotels down narrow lanes may mean a short walk from the nearest road a coach can use.
Questions
How many people fit on a full-size coach?
Usually 49 to 81, depending on the model; a double-decker takes about 80. The quote gives the seat count of the vehicle offered.
Does a coach pay the M50 toll?
Yes, between junctions 6 and 7. It is barrier-free, and the operator arranges payment.
Can the coach wait outside a Dublin hotel?
Not for long. On-street coach spaces allow up to 2 hours and are not for loading, so longer waits happen at a coach park.
