Coach Hire in Irish Cities and Towns
Pick a city or town for its coach parking, set-down rules, nearest airports and the usual day trips.
Where the coach is allowed to stop
Each town handles coaches its own way. Killarney keeps the laybys on East Avenue for bus set-down only. Sligo has a coach drop-off and collection point on Markievicz Road. Waterford sets groups down on The Mall for Waterford Treasures, and Ennis has a coach park at Friar's Walk, about 100 m from the town centre. Kilkenny parks coaches on Castle Road below the castle, with overflow at Larchfield at busy times.
Tolls along the way
The Limerick Tunnel, the Waterford City Bypass and the M1 section around Drogheda are tolled, as are points on the M4, M6, M7 and M8. Your quote lists the tolls the route crosses, including the barrier-free M50 toll around Dublin.
Pair the town with the right airport
Kerry Airport at Farranfore is about 15 to 20 minutes from Killarney. Shannon is about 25 km from both Limerick and Ennis. Letterkenny is about 3 hours from Dublin Airport, so a Donegal group landing in Dublin needs that long transfer built into the first day.
Questions
Is my town missing?
Ask anyway. A trip starting near one of these towns, or passing through, can still be requested.
Which towns publish coach parking?
Dublin has council coach bays and the NTA Docklands coach park. Ennis, Kilkenny and Waterford have coach parks too. Elsewhere, the operator confirms set-down and parking for the addresses you send.
Are the drive times exact?
No. They are approximate road times without stops, and busy roads add to them.
Can a trip cross into Northern Ireland?
As a day trip, yes. Belfast is about 2 hours from Dublin, and Derry about 35 minutes from Letterkenny.
